Submissions should range between 3,000 and 8,000 words, including the bibliography.
All submissions should be sent via e-mail attachment, in Word format, to Yilma Tafere Tasew.
Please note that there is no remuneration for articles that are selected for publication in Africana.
Submissions can be made using either of the following two citation styles:
1. Parenthetical style:
Within the text citations should be made at the end of sentences, using parentheses, as follows: (Brown, 1990: 25). At the end of the submission a full list of references should be provided. The citation style for that list should be as follows:
Books: Brown, C. (1962) The Ambiguity of the State (San Francisco, Forum Editions).
Articles: Smith, O.J. (1997) The overwhelming evidence from the field: for the curious, Review of Social Sciences, 8, pp. 39-47.
Chapters: Hamilton, C.H. (1959) Challenges to civil society advocacy, in: C. Sands (Ed) Civil Society and the State in Africa (New York, Baldwin).
2. Footnotes:
Within the text citations should be made at the end of sentences, using footnotes, as follows: This is the sentence1. This citation style to be used in the footnotes should be as follows:

Subsequent notes: Ibid, p. 27, etc.
If cited later: Brown (1962), p. 29.
